Barberstown Castle is a Four-Star Historic 13th Century Castle, we are located with easy access close to Dublin and leinster region and centrally located between four major motorway links in the heart of Ireland's Ancient East.

This property is one of the first great Irish country houses to display its splendour to the outside world when it opened as a small guesthouse in 1971. It has maintained the elegance of design over eight Centuries by sympathetically blending its Victorian and Elizabethan extensions with the original Medieval Castle Keep of 1288.

Barberstown Castle — 2026.
As part of an exciting improvement and enhancement project, Barberstown Castle is undergoing some incredible works taking place from the 5th of January to early February. These improvements will allow us to unveil something truly special in 2026 — we look forward to sharing what’s ahead.
During this period which is expected to last until the beginning of February, we will be opened to you as usual, but with some limitations with regards the Garden Bar being closed but our Barton Bar, Rooms and other areas will be open to you. We thank our guests for their understanding during this period of transformation and look forward to unveiling an elevated Barberstown Castle experience in 2026.
It was a former home of the acclaimed Musician Mr. Eric Clapton from 1979 - 1987 where famous rockstars came to stay and played music into the early hours in our Green Room & Castle Keep. The Castle is now privately owned & managed and has been carefully upgraded from a 10 bedroom property to a 61 Bedroom Failte Ireland Approved Hotel, consisting of 58 Bedrooms, 2 lodges and our wonderful Presidential Suite.
We thrive on Special Occasions and our guarantee of a personal service teamed with our offering of crackling open log fires, spacious bedrooms, award winning dining and a warm Irish welcome.
